The Tiraña valley was the place where Roman legions passed by, in medieval times, feudal land owned by los Alvarez de las Asturias, Counts of
Nava. Dependent on the Ovetense convent of San Vicente in the 14th century, it became independent at the beginning of the 16th century, 1826 was the year in which it became part of the Laviana city council.
Within the parish of Tiraña we must highlight the town of Barredos, an extensive mining town with a population of 1600 inhabitants, which
intermingles with the last traces vestigios of the old settlement of lordly and rural origin. You can still observe traces of those times in Barredos.
